Who Wants to Be a Millionaire

We had a great time trying out for Millionaire and watching 3 tapings, but it made for a very long day. In fact we weren't able to do anything else in the city except catch some dinner. It was a really neat experience though. Meredith Viera came out and talked to us before the taping, and she's just as personable in person as she appears to be on the show. The set is much smaller than I thought it was...it's amazing how the lights and cameras can make things appear so different on TV. We were able to "audience vote" 4 times. One of the contestants called a friend and they got the voice mail. You could hear a collective gasp as the recording was played. The producers retaped the part when he said he wanted to call a friend and he chose as different lifeline. He wasn't charged for the phone as friend either. Wouldn't you just kill your "friend" when you got home?? The tapings were part of Teacher's Week and will air 21-23 Oct.

The "hot seat". We were right behind Meredith about 4 rows up.

I took this picture from the top of the set.
